Back to School Days

The school is excited to start the 2020-2021 school year however Back to School Days are going to be different this year. The days will happen during the week of August 17 to August 21. There are three things that need to get done during the week: pick up student laptop, pick up first semester planner and have a yearbook photo taken. All other back to school stuff can either be done online or will be postponed until school returns in-person.

To keep everyone safe and to maintain flow and social/physical distancing of people within the building, the school has assigned each student/family a day and time, based on the student's last name, to come to the school to complete their back to school business. Unfortunately due to scheduling, the photographers were not available all week so most students will have two times - one for laptop and planner pickup and one to get yearbook photo taken. 

The Lake Washington School District has provided the school with new COVID-19 safety measures for anyone who enters a school building. They are limiting the number of people in the building and ask that only students enter (6th grade parents may enter for laptop pick up and laptop agreement form if not filled at home). All students who enter the building must be wearing a mask or face covering. Students are only allowed to take their mask or face covering off while they sit for their school photo. Also, prior to entering the building, students must complete an Attestation form verifying the individual has not had any COVID-19 symptoms. Laptop and Planner Pickup - Monday, August 17 - Friday, August 21

Important Information
The school asks that students and families only come to the school on their assigned day and time to pick up their student laptop. Students will enter the main school doors and go upstairs to the library to check out their laptop and power cord and pick up their student planner. Students must logon to their computer for the first time while in the school building. Tables will be set up in the Commons to provide space for students to logon while maintaining appropriate social/physical distancing. Directions for student logon and updating their password will be provided when students pick up their laptop.

At the start of each school year, students and parents are asked to review the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and Laptop Handbook (found in the Important Documents section). All 6th graders and students new to the district are also required to complete a Laptop Agreement form (found in the Important Documents section) which is signed by both parent and student. In the Laptop Handbook, there is information on laptop insurance (optional) which is purchased through an outside vendor.

Yearbook/Student ID Photos - Thursday, August 20 & Friday, August 21

Important Information
Dorian Studio is providing our school yearbook photos and ID/ASB Cards. These photos are also used in Skyward and updated each year so the school has a current photo of each student. School photos will ONLY be taken on Thursday, August 20 and Friday, August 21. At this time, there will be NO makeup day for photos. Students should come to school on these photo days dressed and ready for their school photo.

School photos will take place in the gym and students will enter and exit directly through the exterior south gym doors by the track and tennis courts. Please do not use the main school doors. There will be signs directing you to the correct gym doors.

There are two ways to get information about ordering school photos:

1. From Dorian Studio (please fill out the form by midnight on August 10 to receive information directly from Dorian). All ordering and purchasing of school photos will be done online through the Dorian website. When photos are complete, Dorian will email you with a proof of the photo and link to order. Dorian will ONLY use your email to communicate about this year’s school photos.

2. Through general school messaging, no information shared with Dorian. You will still be able to order and purchase school photos from the Dorian Studio website.
