Reflections is a National PTA and Washington State PTA arts recognition program. This program provides an opportunity for students to use their creative talents by expressing themselves through their own artistic works. Only original works of art are accepted. Finalists have the opportunity to move on to regional, state, and national rounds. A student may submit an entry in one or more of six arts areas: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts.

How to Enter

All entries (digital and physical) are due by November 6, 2024.

The Reflections program welcomes all grades and abilities to explore and be involved in the arts. A student may submit an entry in one or more of the six categories. All artwork, including visual arts, needs to be submitted digitally. Accepted file formats include pdf, jpg, mp3, and mp4. 

Students who identify as having a disability and may receive services under IDEA or ADA: Section 504 may enter in the Accessible Arts division or grade division most closely aligned to their support needs. Please click HERE for more information.

  1. Read the Official Program Rules before submitting your art and entry form.
  2. Download and fill out the Student Entry Form.
  3. Upload your Student Entry Form and your art using this OneDrive link to submit your artwork!

  4. All entries and Student Entry Forms (filled and signed by student and parent/guardian) need to be submitted both digitally and physicallyPlease drop off your artwork in the TMS front office by November 6, 2024. Make sure your name is on the back of your artwork.

 

Category Rules

Please click on the icons below for specific rules for each category.

 

Dance Choreography: Originally choreographed dance composition presented in a video entry.

Film Production: Original works, with or without sound, of animation, narrative, documentary, experimental, or multimedia.
Literature: Original works of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, prose, drama, reflective essay, narrative, and short story. Entries must be a single literary work; collections are not accepted.

Music Composition: Original musical composition, with or without words, presented in an audio recording.

Photography: Color or black and white. Techniques: Photogram, panorama, photomontage (one print of multiple original photos), single or multiple exposure, negative sandwich.
Visual Arts: Drawing; painting in tempera, oil, acrylic, watercolor, or T-shirt paints; computer-generated art, two-dimensional collage, printmaking, needlework, leather tooling, and more. NOTE: we are accepting ONLY 2D visual art.
 
The former Special Artist Division changed to the Accessible Arts Division. The Accessible Arts Division (formerly Special Artist) is an option for students with a disability as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Generally, rules and guidelines within the Accessible Arts division are intended to ensure accessibility to the National PTA Reflections program and are modeled after the guidelines outlined in the ADA.
